Job summary

Saltworks Technologies in Richmond, BC is seeking a Senior Chemical Process Engineer to lead lithium concentration, desalination plant design, and advanced water treatment systems. You will engage with customers and cross-functional teams to shape technical direction and project strategy.

You will develop PFDs, P&IDs, mass balances, process models, and control philosophies, while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to product development, ensuring safe, efficient operations and ongoing

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering.
• 5-10 years post-graduation in water treatment, desalination, lithium or mineral processing.
• Hands-on technical approach with tooling and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience developing PFDs, P&IDs, and mass balances, preferably using AutoCAD P&ID or similar software.
• Understanding of engineering design workflows, standards and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English, including risk escalation.
• Strong mentorship skills to elevate team output.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead process design for lithium recovery and desalination plants.
• Engage with customers and project teams to shape technical direction and strategy.
• Research, evaluate, and select process devices for cost-effective solutions.
• Design sustainable processes and develop process models.
• Create and maintain PFDs, P&IDs, and mass balances; size and specify equipment.
• Develop control philosophies and coordinate with Controls & Automation Engineers.
• Participate in PHA and HAZOP reviews for safety and efficiency.
• Contribute to product development, technology innovation, and process optimization.
• Analyze operational data to provide actionable insights.
• Mentor junior engineers and elevate team output.
