Job summary

Seaspan ULC is seeking a CAD Administrator to manage the CAD environment from design through project completion. The role drives implementation, integration, maintenance and optimization of CAD systems, templates, libraries and parts catalogs to meet business needs.

The position is on-site in North Vancouver, requiring hands-on support, training, reporting and continuous improvement of CAD tools and workflows across shipbuilding operations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent post-secondary education.
Experience supporting and administering CAD environments, including software implementation, configuration, integration, and user support.
Knowledge of data management, document control systems, SQL databases, and Microsoft Fabric data engineering components.
Proficiency in programming or scripting languages such as C#, PowerShell, Python, SQL, or Java.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop solutions to complex technical challenges.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with stakeholders across diverse teams.
Strong technical writing, documentation, communication, and presentation skills.
Experience with CAD-PLM software integrations and ERP/MRP integrations, including Oracle.
Shipbuilding or marine industry experience including design, detail planning, or production information management.
Experience with MSSQL and CAD scripting languages such as LISP, Diesel, VBA, or similar tools.
Advanced network and systems troubleshooting, including software licensing and version control management.

Responsibilities

Support the CAD software implementation / integration with all VSY systems.
Support for CAD database setup / management / administration.
Maintain / update / tailor CAD library, CAD parts catalogues, system specifications, CAD templates, CAD standards.
Support CAD configuration control and data consistency with all VSY systems (e.g. ARAS / IFS, Oracle).
Develop, generate or produce automatic extraction of CAD reports to support business needs.
Provide CAD training and technical support to end users.
Contribute to strategies, processes, procedures, and WI to improve efficiency and quality in CAD tool use.
Develop, implement, and monitor custom tools / macros to enhance system functionality.
Identify opportunities to increase workflow efficiency.
Monitor performance of CAD software systems across the business.
Report resource and capability requirements to the CAD administration Manager.
Identify training needs, process improvements and development opportunities for team effectiveness.

Job description

The CAD Administrator supports end users and manages the organization's CAD environment from initial design through project completion. This role is responsible for the implementation, integration, maintenance, and optimization of CAD systems, templates, standards, libraries, parts catalogues, and related processes. The position also monitors system performance, develops reports, provides user training and technical support, and contributes to the ongoing improvement of CAD tools, integrations, and workflows to meet current and future business needs.

Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 216 980 1st St West, North Vancouver.

What you’ll do

Support the CAD software implementation / integration with all VSY systems

What you’ll bring

The estimated salary for this position is $105,300 - $128,700. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
