Job summary

Job Description

Thinkpath Engineering Services (TES) is looking for a Senior Buyer to fill an opportunity located in Peterborough, ON.

Responsibilities
  • Purchase assigned commodities and services;
  • Obtain vendor quotations for materials, equipment, services, etc.;
  • Review and analyze quote to ensure clarity and accuracy of technical and commercial items.
  • Visit with suppliers to stay current with vendor capabilities;
  • Investigate new manufacturing applications and interface with vendor’s senior management personnel;
  • Develop strategic product/commodity procurement and new vendors, considering all business factors including technical, market, commercial, scheduling and quality factors.
  • Provide ongoing purchasing contract administration including revision management, schedule maintenance, warranty claim resolution, quality and commercial discrepancy settlement, etc., as required during the life of a contract;
  • Lead multi‑functional teams in complex negotiations.
  • Provide supplier corrective action resolutions, supplier quality improvement and vendor claim cost recovery.
  • Develop rapport with engineering, legal, manufacturing and project management personnel to maximize supply chain effectiveness;
  • Lead continuous improvement projects;
  • Train and mentor other members within supply management.
  • Perform value analysis including participation and organization of cost savings initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering (preferred).
  • 10 or more years’ experience in supply management.
  • CPP enrollment (preferred).
  • Supplier relationship development, negotiation skills, excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to effectively lead teams.
  • Project management experience.
  • Proficient in most business‑related software applications.
  • Knowledge of department procedures and QAM / QPM.
  • Significant capability with risk management and quality tools.
