Senior Business Data Analyst, Finance Insights and Technology Engagement (FITE)

About the Team

The Finance Insights and Technology Engagement (FITE) team at Loblaw is responsible for managing centralized financial analytics and reporting for Canada's largest and most successful retailer. Our multifaceted team synergizes their skills across various key domains including data governance, analytics, business intelligence development, process automation and data science.

About the Role

We are looking for a talented and motivated Senior Business Data Analyst to join our FITE team. You will be working with various teams and stakeholders to foster relationships, understand requirements, and use a vast array of tools to deliver tech-based solutions. You will also rely on a creative mind and be able to think outside of the box. The ability to communicate and present to various levels within the business and to external partners is of utmost importance. A working knowledge of SQL is required, as well as familiarity with BI development.

Please note our hybrid work policy is 4 days in office at 1 President’s Choice Circle in Brampton.

Responsibilities
  • Engage with key stakeholders/teams in Finance to ensure their reporting needs are fulfilled.
  • Evaluate new data sources and help define more effective ways to communicate data with our business users.
  • Work with business partners to manage reporting processes that are accurate, consistent, and efficient.
  • Summarize vast amounts of data to develop reports and models that solve business problems.
  • Build powerful business intelligence visualizations/insights using a variety of tools such as MicroStrategy, Power Platform, Excel, and others.
  • Own project management tasks such as scoping, impact assessments, effort estimates, risk mitigation, activity status updates and issue escalation.
  • Create/maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation to ensure retention of institutional memory.
Role Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years related work experience in a similar role.
  • University degree or post-secondary education in Finance, Business, Math/Statistics, Analytics or other relevant field.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform (specifically Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate).
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel (Power Query, VBA scripting, etc).
  • Proficient in SQL for query optimization and syntax knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of database applications such as Teradata, GCP and MS SQL Server.
  • Previous experience with SAP (or similar ERP systems) is an asset.
