About the role

We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst with experience in financial systems, specifically with a transactional data warehouse, to join our Business Data & Design team!

Under the vice‑presidency of the finance, transformation, and systems team, the Senior Business Analyst will be part of a team that collaborates to deliver both large projects and small improvements. The analyst must understand the business, financial, and IT aspects of the requirements, and lead the design and delivery stages of initiatives end‑to‑end. The analyst is responsible for requirements for transactional data warehouses, including policies, claims, expenses, IBNR and related topics. Daily tasks involve documenting data integration, transformation, and optimizing data flows in financial systems.

What you’ll do here
  • Lead or support requirement gathering meetings with finance or technical advisors and translate them into clear documentation.
  • Conduct data queries, perform data analysis, challenge requirements, and find solutions to integrate new data flows or update existing ones.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, design, and document data integration and transformation solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Present in peer reviews, executive meetings, or to technical experts to identify the best solutions and thus deliver functional requirements for development.
  • Track progress, list work to be done, meet deadlines, and update the work management tool accordingly.
  • Deliver expected results to business and technical stakeholders to meet testing requirements.
  • Support the testing team in certain validations and preparing data.
What you bring to the table
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, information systems management, business intelligence, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Studies/minor in finance or accounting are considered a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience as a business analyst for a finance team and/or financial systems.
  • Excellent communication skills to gather clear and complete requirements, synthesize them, and present them to colleagues and executives.
  • Strong understanding of ETL principles, data elements, data structures, and data modeling.
  • Knowledge of databases, financial, IT systems, and technologies (data warehouse, SQL, SAS, ETL tools, ERP systems like Oracle, SAP, etc.).
  • Proficient use of Office 365, Excel, Visio, Jira, RDBMS (e.g., Toad, MS SQL Server).
  • CPA designation and IFRS17 experience are considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of the P&C insurance industry is a major asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Strong analytical skills, insight, and discipline.
  • Leadership skills, team spirit, independent and effective.
  • Ability to interact with a variety of people at all levels of the organization, including management and some external contributors.
  • No work experience in Canada is required but must have the authorization to work in Canada.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) – requires regular interaction with colleagues across the country.
