Job description

CLOSING DATE: November 17, 2026

OpportunityAt AIMCo, technology is a key enabler of investment success. As a Senior Business Analyst, Back Office Technology & Business Delivery, you will be a key partner to AIMCo’s investment, operations, finance, and technology teams, working as part of a cross-functional DevOps team to deliver initiatives that support AIMCo’s business and technology objectives.

Working closely with investment and operations professionals, Finance, Business System Analysts, Developers, Quality Assurance teams, Project Managers, and other business and technology stakeholders, you will elicit and document business requirements, define functional specifications, support solution design and testing, and ensure business and technology teams remain aligned throughout delivery.

You will take ownership of analysis for assigned initiatives and workstreams, translating complex business needs into practical technology solutions. Depending on your experience, you may also lead the business analysis for larger or more complex initiatives and provide guidance and mentorship to other Business Analysts.

This role is ideal for an experienced Business Analyst who brings strong investment management knowledge, enjoys solving complex business and technology problems, and is comfortable working across investment operations, finance, data, and technology.

We have flexibility to hire at different levels based on the successful candidate’s experience, qualifications, and demonstrated scope of expertise.

** This role will close at 11:59 pm MST on November 16th, 2026

What You Will Do
  • Partner with investment, operations, finance, risk, compliance, and technology stakeholders to understand business needs and change objectives, facilitate discussions, and drive alignment and decisions.
  • Translate high-level or conceptual needs into clear business requirements, functional specifications, process flows, data mappings, use cases, and user stories.
  • Support initiatives across the investment lifecycle, with a focus on back‑office processes including investment accounting, fund administration, cash management, settlements, reconciliations, valuations, and financial reporting.
  • Analyze business, data, and technology issues, perform root cause analysis, identify process or data gaps, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Create and refine product backlogs, features, acceptance criteria, and user stories, partnering with delivery teams on prioritization and sprint planning.
  • Lead or support the business analysis lifecycle for initiatives and enhancements, including requirements definition, design support, testing, implementation, and deployment.
  • Develop test scenarios and acceptance criteria, support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and validate results against expected business, accounting, and operational outcomes.
  • Partner with Developers, Quality Assurance, Project Managers, and release teams to ensure solutions meet business requirements and quality expectations.
  • Identify and support business process and technology improvements and help implement effective solutions.
  • Build strong knowledge of AIMCo’s investment and technology environment, including SimCorp Dimension and related investment applications.
  • Share knowledge and provide guidance to other Business Analysts and team members while contributing to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
What We Are Looking For

You are an experienced Business Analyst who understands the investment management environment and can connect business needs with technology solutions. You are comfortable engaging with stakeholders at different levels of the organization, facilitating discussions, working through ambiguity, and challenging ideas constructively to reach the best outcome.

You bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills and can move between business processes, investment data, accounting requirements, and technology. At the more senior end of the range, you are comfortable independently leading analysis for complex initiatives, influencing decisions, and providing guidance to others.

Required Qualifications
  • Post‑secondary education in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Business Analyst or related role within investment management, pensions, capital markets, or financial services, with experience delivering or supporting technology solutions across front, middle, or back‑office functions.
  • Strong understanding of investment management processes, with experience in areas such as fund administration, investment accounting, cash management, settlements, reconciliations, financial reporting, or net asset valuation.
  • Working knowledge of capital markets products, which may include equities, fixed income, OTC derivatives, or private markets, and an understanding of the investment lifecycle.
  • Understanding of investment book of record concepts and how position, cash, transaction, and accounting data flow between front, middle, and back‑office systems.
  • Proven experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, or functional specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with experience investigating complex business, data, process, or technology issues and identifying practical solutions.
  • Working knowledge of Agile/DevOps delivery methodologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands‑on experience with investment management platforms, ideally SimCorp Dimension; experience with Aladdin, eFront, or Bloomberg is an asset.
  • Experience in fund administration, investment accounting, cash management, investment finance, or net asset valuation.
  • Experience within the Canadian or U.S. pension or institutional investment management industry.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, SQL, or investment system integrations is an asset.
  • Experience leading business analysis for initiatives or mentoring other Business Analysts is an asset.
What Success Looks Like
  • Build trusted relationships across investment, operations, finance, and technology teams.
  • Develop strong knowledge of AIMCo’s investment business, technology environment, and SimCorp Dimension.
  • Independently own requirements and analysis for assigned initiatives through successful delivery.
