Roster: Monday to Friday.

A unique opportunity has arisen to join Fortescue’s FP&A team in the position of Senior Business Analyst – Financial Planning & Analysis.

This role is a key member of the Finance Planning and Analysis function supporting requirements for Fortescue’s sustainability strategy, AI value delivery, quarterly corporate Forecast consolidation and planning systems.

Reporting to the Principal Planning & Analysis, this position will suit an experienced values driven Finance professional who enjoys working within a dynamic environment, commercially astute around whole of business value drivers and is a highly engaging and collaborative team player with a track record of delivering to high standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support sustainability reporting and AI investments.
  • Partner with Sustainability and AI project teams to frame requirements and deliver robust, fit-for-purpose financials.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and validate data in support of accurate financial assessments and disclosures.
  • Support the leadership by identifying and clearly communicating analytical insights to add value and inform the direction of critical business decisions.
  • Prepare presentations and briefing papers for senior management.
  • Stay informed on economic trends, regulatory developments, and industry shifts to enhance strategic decision-making.
  • Contribute and assist in the delivery of the consolidated annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of business plans and strategies.
  • Supporting planning systems, acting as a bridge between business stakeholder and technical teams, with the ability to lead requirements gathering, translate business needs into requirements and identify and recommend system improvements.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Professional qualifications (e.g., CPA, CFA) are highly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial planning, business analysis, or similar roles, ideally within the mining or natural resources industry.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Power BI).
  • Proficiency in finance systems (e.g., SAP, Anaplan, Power BI).
  • Self-starter with a pragmatic and ‘can do’ attitude to problem solving, articulating, and providing solutions.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for data accuracy
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity by addressing novel problems.
  • Comfortable working in unstructured and structured environments.
