Senior Business Analyst – Automation & Civil Engineering Support
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support and accelerate our automation design initiatives within the subdivision engineering domain. This role blends strong analytical capabilities with in-depth understanding of civil engineering processes and technology-driven design tools. You will work directly with the Automation and Engineering teams and report to the Head of Automation (and to me). Your insights will help shape how engineering work is automated, optimized, and operationalized across the organization.
What You’ll Do
Business & Technical Analysis
- Lead requirements gathering and business analysis for automation and design optimization projects.
- Translate engineering and operational needs into clear specifications for technical teams.
- Map existing processes in detailed workflows and identify opportunities for automation and improvement.
Project Support & Delivery
- Collaborate with engineers, software developers, and automation specialists to scope, plan, and deliver technology solutions that support subdivision design efficiency.
- Manage project milestones, communicate progress, and help mitigate risks.
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT), ensuring solutions meet the needs of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a bridge between engineering, automation, and leadership teams.
- Prepare clear documentation, dashboards, and reports for cross-functional audiences.
- Facilitate meetings and workshops with civil engineers, product owners, and developers.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze performance metrics to identify trends and opportunities for further automation.
- Recommend best practices and tooling to enhance productivity, accuracy, and engineering quality.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Significant experience (5+ years) as a business analyst or in a similar analytical role — ideally within an engineering or technical environment.
- Experience working on technology or automation initiatives, with a strong understanding of design workflows.
Technical & Domain Skills
- Deep understanding of civil engineering design principles, particularly in land development or subdivision engineering.
- Familiarity with design tools and engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar).
- Comfortable assessing technical requirements and communicating with software development teams (experience with automation tools is a plus).
Communication & Collaboration
- Exceptional verbal and written communication: able to distill complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical thinker with a structured approach to solving ambiguous problems.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
Personal Attributes
- Proactive and detail-oriented with a bias toward action.
- Collaborative mindset and strong stakeholder management skills.
