Our Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a Senior Bridge Engineer with a strong background in construction engineering in the infrastructure sector to join our team, based out of our Vancouver office. As the successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to plan, coordinate, execute, and manage the design of a variety of structural projects. You will work in a team environment, preparing structural engineering designs and related documents. You will work on a variety of projects helping to lead with our team of engineers, EITs, designers and project managers.

A Day in the Life
  • Lead preliminary to detailed design of infrastructure structures, including concrete foundations, concrete and steel bridges, support of excavation components, and other miscellaneous components such as steel frames, connections and temporary structures.
  • Carry out estimates of project costs, complex analysis and calculations, design review, preparation of reports, proposals, and contract documentation.
  • Collaborate with the project team, comprised of engineers, designers, project coordinators, and others, to develop drawings and specifications.
  • Perform new structural designs, evaluate existing structures, and supervise team members who perform inspections.
  • Interact with clients to support ongoing engineering projects and to develop new clients and new projects for Allnorth’s team.
  • Interface directly with project managers (PMs), team members, contractors, and others to clearly define project requirements and expectations.
  • Ensure completion of work within allotted schedules and budgets and with high‑quality standards.
  • Proactively resolve performance, scope, and schedule issues with the PMs as they arise.
  • Offer support, mentoring, and guidance to other structural team members.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, specialized in structural engineering.
  • Registered as a P.Eng. in British Columbia.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in construction engineering and infrastructure design, preferably within a consulting environment.
  • Resource bridge experience considered an asset.
  • Must have recent Ministry of Transportation and Transit experience.
  • Experience with finite element analysis of structures, dynamic analysis, and reasonable knowledge in seismic design.
  • Experience working with national and provincial design codes and standards.
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) and proven ability to collaborate with team members and clients in a multi‑disciplined environment.
  • Technical competence and strong attention to detail.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring ability.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects and priorities.
