About the Role

We’re looking for a collaborative and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Senior Benefits Specialist. In this role, you will play a critical part in administering and enhancing Element’s benefits, leave, and retirement programs, while ensuring compliance with Canadian and U.S. regulations. This is an exciting opportunity to partner with global teams, optimize processes, and directly impact the well-being of employees across North America and beyond.

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as a key member of the Benefits Center of Excellence (COE), supporting global operations with a focus on Canada and the U.S.
  • Administer benefits programs, assess employee eligibility, and resolve complex issues with brokers, carriers, and payroll teams.
  • Oversee retirement plan eligibility, audits, and compliance for RRSP and 401(k) programs.
  • Manage leave of absence, disability programs, and workplace accommodations, acting as subject matter expert.
  • Maintain vendor relationships, escalate service issues, and ensure quality service delivery.
  • Process benefit-related invoices and perform timely reconciliation for billing accuracy.
  • Support annual open enrollment, including system setup, testing, and employee communications.
  • Collaborate with teams to optimize systems, perform testing, and drive efficiency and compliance improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. and Canadian legislative requirements, prepare regulatory filings, and maintain up-to-date policy knowledge.
Basic Qualifications
  • 5–8 years of experience in employee benefits management in Canada and the U.S.
  • Expert knowledge of U.S. group benefits plans and Canadian plans (highly desired)
  • Experience with retirement plans (401k, RRSP), absence management, and HR regulatory frameworks.
  • Knowledge of work accommodation processes in Canada and the U.S. (ADA, FMLA).
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-priority environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, HR, or related field
  • CEBS designation or in progress.
  • Experience with Benefits Administration and HRIS platforms, plus strong Excel/PowerPoint skills.
  • Collaborative approach with proven ability to build trust and relationships with stakeholders.
Current Location

Mississauga. Our Mississauga office will move to 1 Adelaide in Toronto in September 2026.

The hiring base salary range for this position is $76,300 - $104,900 annually. Actual compensation within this range will be dependent upon the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data. Please note that the disclosed salary range is solely for candidates hired to perform work within this geographic location. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location.
