Job summary

Ground News is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build and operate core backend services powering millions of readers. You’ll work with the backend chapter, design, implement, and run services that enable our users to see every side of the story, while balancing technical excellence with operational rigor.

This remote role offers the opportunity to influence product direction, improve observability, reliability, and performance, and ship impactful features for a growing consumer

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with TypeScript and Async/Await syntax.
• 3+ years of experience with Node.js.
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
• Experience with caching systems such as Redis or similar.
• Track record of shipping and scaling reliable services for a consumer product.

Responsibilities

• Own customer-facing features and deliver new developments within weeks of joining.
• Engage in end-to-end projects from conception to delivery with stakeholders.
• Operate in a lean and agile environment to ship quickly while maintaining quality.
• Collaborate across departments and translate stakeholder needs into implementable solutions.
