Trulioo Information Services Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the architecture and development of high-throughput back-end services powering our global identity verification platform.

You will design distributed microservices that handle real-time verification, ML inference coordination, and vendor integrations. The role emphasizes API design (gRPC/Protobuf, REST/OpenAPI), event-driven pipelines with Kafka, and multi-region reliability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years back-end/server software engineering experience delivering production-grade distributed services.
• Deep proficiency with Kotlin (or strong Java transitioning to Kotlin) and modern JVM concurrency.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and microservices.
• Strong API design skills for gRPC/Protobuf and REST/OpenAPI surfaces.
• Experience with distributed messaging (Kafka) and multi-region deployments.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and development of high-throughput, low-latency back-end services.
• Design and operate distributed microservices and real-time identity verification pipelines.
• Own API contracts and versioning for internal and external consumers.
• Collaborate with ML, infra, and product teams to deploy AI-enabled features.
