Job summary

Instacart is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Paid MarTech pod to architect and scale backend services, data pipelines, and ETL processes enabling marketing campaign execution, conversion tracking, and third-party integrations.

You will lead projects end-to-end, drive technical direction, mentor engineers, and partner closely with Marketing, Operations, and Product leadership to shape technical and product strategy.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of software engineering experience with expert-level Python for scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Proven track record leading end-to-end projects including architecture design and production rollout.
• Deep expertise with data integration technologies (Snowflake, SQL, ETL) and orchestration tools (Airflow, DBT).
• Experience designing for performance, observability (logging, metrics, tracing).
• Strong product thinking with ability to influence direction and balance trade-offs.
• Excellent communication skills with professional proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead complete projects independently across backend services, APIs, and data pipelines with minimal guidance.
• Architect scalable, robust solutions for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Drive technical improvements by solving underlying problems and promoting reusability.
• Partner with Marketing and Product to influence features and requirements with trade-offs.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and onboarding, improving team productivity.
