Job summary

Socket.dev in Toronto is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join its Customer Focus Group (CFG), a team bridging engineering with the commercial side of the product. You will design, build, and scale backend services and APIs while aligning with customer needs and product goals.

You’ll work across development, architecture, product, and customer-facing activities to deliver features, tackle urgent technical challenges, and improve performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Strong backend architecture knowledge including microservices and API design.
• Proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript or equivalent backend language.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience building and scaling systems for high-volume data processing.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Familiarity with serverless computing and managed databases.
• 5+ years of backend development experience, preferably with customer-focused products.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to build performant, scalable solutions.
• Experience with Agile development and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with globally distributed teams.
