Job summary

BMO is seeking a Cloud Developer to join our Technology team in Toronto. The role focuses on designing, developing and maintaining scalable cloud-native applications, leveraging AWS serverless services and RESTful APIs.

You will work on microservices, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices in a hybrid office setting. The ideal candidate has 7–10 years in cloud development, strong Python/Node.js skills, and experience with AWS tools such as Lambda, API Gateway and DynamoDB.

Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of experience as a Cloud Developer (AWS)
  • Strong experience with AWS serverless architecture (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3)
  • Proficiency in Python/Node.js and its ecosystems
  • Experience building backend APIs and microservices
  • Experience using Copilot (AI dev facilities)
  • Understanding CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks
  • Cloud computing, cloud storage, and security basics
  • Serverless stack and enterprise development in regulated industries
  • Exposure to AI-related development in production environments

Responsibilities

TechnologyThis role is Hybrid (2 days/week in office) @ 33 Dundas West (Toronto).

Develops scalable and accessible business cloud applications. Focuses on the technical design, development, enhancement, testing, debugging and maintenance of Cloud applications and supports the design of business processes in the cloud. Applies expertise and in-depth understanding of managed services environments, next-generation databases and, developer tools. Migrates existing applications to the cloud, and modifies existing applications for the cloud, or builds new cloud-native applications.

  • Creates and maintains various applications using different types of programming languages.
  • Integrates data sources and identifies the kinds of problems that can arise due to incompatibility or security concerns.
  • Designs, configures and implements the cloud-native software that solves actual business problems using cloud technology.
  • Maintains applications and infrastructure for cloud-based platforms.
  • Supports the creation of strategies to enhance the performance of existing cloud technologies.
  • Develops workflows and processes following best practices and the cloud architecture.
  • Understands specific cloud resources, services, architectures and service-level agreements in order to create scalable and extensive software products.
  • Creates instructions for cloud computing operations and documentation.
  • Establishes a development environment and continuous integration pipeline. Utilizes modern application patterns and code efficiency.
  • Translates user needs into technical specifications by understanding, conceptualizing, and facilitating technical requirements from users.
  • Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  • Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance server-side components using Python or Node JS
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, following beset practices for coding, testing, and documentation.
  • Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications to ensure optimal performance.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and apply them to your work.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Computer Science
  • 7-10 years of experience as a Cloud Developer (AWS)
  • Strong experience with AWS serverless architecture, including services like Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, DynamoDB and S3, SNS, SQS, EC2, AWS CodeBuild/Deploy/Commit/Pipeline
  • Proficiency in Python/Node.js with a deep understanding of its ecosystems and best practices.
  • Experience in building backend with Java is a plus.
  • Experience building APIs
  • Experience using Copilot (AI dev facilities)
  • Understanding CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools

Salary

$75,900.00 - $141,900.00 Pay Type:

SalariedThe above represents the company’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents the company’s expected target for the first year in this position.
