Purpose
Coordinate sales efforts with Worley’s inside/outside Sales teams, participate in business development efforts and update calls.
Responsibilities
- Business Development:
- Actively engage with internal and external clients for business development and coordinate the work with other disciplines.
- Prepare or assist in preparing proposals, execution strategy, design work cost estimate, and project scheduling.
- Maintain staff profiles and resumes, track existing capabilities and strategically address future customer capability requirements.
- Encourage positive working relationships with external parties such as customers, suppliers, and contractors. May be involved in networking, negotiations, strategic alliancing, and cost savings efforts.
- Maintain pricing records reflecting efforts to complete project activities.
- Business Operations:
- Assist in recruiting, coaching and performance management of the team.
- Attend project coordination meetings and liaise with project team members, clients, sub-consultants, contractors, and regulatory and environmental approval agencies.
- Monitor project progress through site visits and meetings with clients and contractors.
- Actively encourage and support a safety‑oriented culture.
- Participate in budgeting activities and manage operations within the approved budget.
- Control staffing levels, organizational structure, and monitors project discipline structures.
- Oversee engineering software licensing costs, employee utilization, and skill development.
- Ensure discipline technical work and team activities meet all health, safety, environmental and security requirements.
- Participate in setting the strategic goals for the team and executes strategic initiatives.
- Project Delivery:
- Facilitate meeting project requirements with discipline guidelines, programs, and management of project allocated resources. May participate in project execution strategy and planning.
- Drive innovative solutions, technology advances and methods to effectively deal with working out of sequence. May work with Project Management teams to take corrective actions regarding any issues, staffing requirements, scope changes, progressing, or other events that could affect project completion and/or profitability. Review and authorize work done by direct reports.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Oversee programs for technical competency and quality and monitor technical competency of teams.
- Ensure team member adherence to company processes, generally accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
- Support global standardization and use of drawing and document templates.
- Assure the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications whenever viable and lawful.
- Use local/global standards to support technical excellence. Appoint senior team members to conduct checking and perform technical peer reviews and manage execution.
- Travel as required for various field programs.
What you will bring
Technical and Industry Experience:
- 15+ years of relevant discipline experience and 5+ years in project/team leadership.
- Experience leading a team, including recruitment, mentoring, coaching and performance management.
- Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining strong client relations.
- Ability to communicate effectively and to proactively respond to time‑sensitive issues.
- Demonstrated experience in marine inspections.
- Strong background in ports and marine civil/structural work. Experienced understanding of regulations, codes, and industry standard practices.
- Strong relationships and works well with clients and contractors, establishing and maintaining trust.
- Skilled in estimating project costs and proposal writing. Adept at budgeting and cost control.
- Experience in project management, risk management, quality, procurement or construction execution.
- Ability to communicate and present complex proposals to senior level management and clients. Persuasion and influence skills.
- Functional awareness of discipline tools and cross‑discipline data‑centric methods.
- Drives safe and sustainable engineering outcomes throughout the asset lifecycle via SEAL.
- Assumes hands‑on management and implements all relevant company HSE requirements. Demands a proactive approach to health, safety and environmental performance.

- Builds constructive business relationships throughout the organization; uses diplomacy and tact; accessible and approachable in relationships with others.

- Enjoys working in a high‑calibre team with high visibility to senior stakeholders. Capable of prioritizing workloads and helping colleagues achieve team goals.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training
Required:
- The ideal candidate will have a degree in civil/structural engineering from an accredited post‑secondary institution.
- Registered or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia as a professional engineer.
- This role is Vancouver based only.
- For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $173,292 to $267,638.
- Salary variation depends on qualifications, experience, geography, internal pay equity and prevailing market conditions.
