The Senior Associate Portfolio Manager (SAPM) works closely with the Portfolio Management team in executing the Department Investment Program goals and implementing investment strategies to maximize the risk adjusted returns for both funds. This consists of rigorous screening and bottom-up analysis of global companies to identify high-quality candidates for portfolio inclusion. BCI’s investment process involves financial and qualitative analysis, meeting with management teams, research analysts, and industry experts with the goal of producing detailed high conviction investment recommendations that incorporate supported investment views at a stock level that are differentiated from market expectations.
The SAPM thrives in a dynamic team environment. They actively collaborate with their Global Equities colleagues to maximize the overall performance of the portfolios through actively debating and challenging ideas, sharing knowledge and resources, and embracing an openness to new ideas and perspectives from all team members. The SAPM also mentors and helps develop less experienced team members. The SAPM will be tasked with producing investment recommendations in the consumer discretionary and consumer staples sectors focused on developed Global markets.
The role can be based in Victoria, BC (preferred); Vancouver or New York offices considered for qualified candidates.
The Capital Markets & Credit Investments (CM&CI) department manages C$165B of capital markets and credit investments (56% of total net AUM of BCI). The department invests globally across Credit, Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives, and Absolute Return Strategies, with investment teams located in BCI’s global offices in Victoria, Vancouver, New York, and London. As a leader in responsible investing, CM&CI actively integrates ESG factors into investment analysis and decision-making processes across all strategies.
The Global Equities team generates high-conviction stock recommendations in support of two Global Equity mandates: Global Fundamental and Global Thematic. These two portfolios have combined assets under management in excess of $4 billion CAD.
Both funds are concentrated long-only funds that invest in developed markets with a benchmark of MSCI World ex Canada.

The annualized base salary range for this ideally Victoria-based role is CAD $158,000 to $183,000.

The base salary will consider factors such as the individual's skill set, experience, and internal equity. We aim for actual pay to be around the market median for expected performance and the upper quartile for excellent performance. Actual salaries may vary based on experience and expertise.
