Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Senior Associate for Integration and Test Engineering in Ottawa, Ontario. The candidate will contribute to the verification and validation of naval communications systems, collaborating with embedded software and hardware designers to execute tests and ensure product quality.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and at least two years of experience in military/commercial systems integration and testing, along with strong communication skills and proficiency in scripting languages.

The Senior Associate, Integration and Test Engineering will contribute to all aspects of verification and validation of naval communications systems for military and commercial applications. The candidate will contribute to test design, planning, automating and executing tests to deliver a product of the highest quality. They should be self-motivated, creative, proactive and collaborative. The Senior Associate will work closely with the embedded software designers, hardware designers, product owners, and stakeholders planning, executing test iterations, tracking/reporting results, troubleshooting and resolution.

Essential Functions
  • Interact with product owners, development teams and stakeholders to develop a strong understanding of the product and test objectives.
  • Contribute to design review and ensure design requirements are testable.
  • Define test specifications covering low to complex system or integration functionalities.
  • Develop and document test plans and procedures, execute tests and generate reports.
  • Define and set up the test and validation environment including scripts development and potentially contacting vendors, asking for samples and quotation.
  • Develop and run automated tests covering functionality and diagnostic requirements.
  • Communicate critical issues and status updates in a timely manner.
  • Debug test failures and analyze root causes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a minimum of two years relevant working experience; or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 6 years of related work experience.
  • Experience with integration and test of military or commercial systems.
  • Knowledge of naval communication systems.
  • Knowledge of environmental test conditions, both electrical and mechanical.
  • Resolution of technical issues arising during the implementation, integration and testing of the system and subsystem elements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of verification methodology and software development life cycle.
  • Knowledge of network protocols (TCP, IP, HTTP, FTP, DNS, SSH, etc.).
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, Lua, JavaScript, Bash, XML, JSON, etc.).
  • Experience in different hypervisors (KVM, VMware, VirtualBox, etc.).
  • Experience in test automation and continuous integration.
  • Experience in functional and performance testing.
  • Strong English written and spoken skills.

  • Proficient in MS Office tools.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance.
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
