Job summary

SLC Management, a growing global asset manager and Sun Life subsidiary, is seeking a Senior Associate, Financial Planning & Analysis to support the Sun Life General Investment Account. You will drive quarterly processes, provide technical accounting guidance, and deliver insights to senior management.

Responsibilities include overseeing the credit cycle, IFRS 9 ECL, and maintaining strong controls while pursuing continuous improvement across the FP&A function.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the financial services industry with a working understanding of investments and/or insurance.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, change management, influencing skills, and a team player mindset.
  • Demonstrate ability to make recommendations to management and influence business decisions based on thorough analysis leveraging available data.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet tight reporting deadlines on deliverables.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Experience working with large data sets and building/improving processes.

Job Description:

This is a 12-month contract opportunity.

WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU:

We are seeking a Senior Associate, Financial Planning & Analysis to join the FP&A team supporting the Sun Life General Investment Account. The role will involve supporting quarterly processes such as the credit review cycle, IFRS 9 expected credit losses, and providing technical accounting guidance on certain transactions as they relate to the General Investment Account. The Senior Associate will leverage data and analytical tools to provide valuable insights to senior management while helping to maintain an effective control environment.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Professional finance designation (CPA, CFA, or MBA).

  • Investment accounting experience, preferably within the asset management or insurance industry.

  • IFRS knowledge/experience.

  • Working knowledge of SAP (or other ledger system), WEBI, Tableau, Aladdin etc.

  • Proficient in Microsoft office tools (Excel, Access, PowerPoint etc.).
