Qualifications

The AppOps Specialist—reporting to the Leader, AppOps - KONEK—will support the strengthening of the AppOps practice by building secure, efficient, and reliable systems. They will use their advanced experience in cloud platforms, automation, and infrastructure as code within an Agile environment.

Responsibilities:
  1. Optimizing application performance using comprehensive monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  2. Analyzing application trends and code to identify potential issues.
  3. Leveraging Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) to manage and provision cloud resources (Terraform, Ansible, Chef, etc.).
  4. Managing cloud native tools and services, including serverless architectures, microservices, and managed services.
  5. Reviewing/making code observations to strengthen application stability.
  6. Collaborating with development, operations, and security teams to apply security best practices into all aspects of AppOps (CI/CD, IaC, security tool integrations).
  7. Driving continuous improvement by developing and implementing cutting-edge automation solutions, reducing manual intervention and streamlining the process for cloud infrastructure and application management (self-healing, auto-scaling, etc.).
  8. Seeking opportunities to create reusable components to enable automation adoption.
  9. Contributing to our company strategic objectives by enabling faster, more secure, and efficient deployment of applications, supporting business agility and growth.
  10. Gathering and providing application metrics, KPI’s, SLI, SLO, SLA’s etc.
  11. Creating and maintaining detailed documentation for systems, automation, and processes.

Must Have Skills:

You bring:

  1. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  2. 5+ years proficiency in using version control systems, such as Git, for managing codebases and collaboration.
  3. 5+ years of programming experience (Java, Python, Spring Framework, Bash, etc.).
  4. Experience with tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, etc. for monitoring infrastructure and applications.
  5. Knowledge in software architecture such as mobile app development, web applications, and/or Node or Java backends.
  6. 5+ years experience with Agile development and Agile frameworks (JIRA, GitHub).
  7. 5+ years experience with container orchestration.
  8. 5+ years experience in Cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  9. 5+ years of experience in software lifecycle including release planning, time estimates, release processes, software testing, incident and issue management, monitoring & alerting etc.
  10. Eligibility to work in Canada in a full-time capacity.
  11. Certifications in cloud technologies and automation tools are a plus.
  12. Demonstrated self-motivation and self-direction connected with a passion for excellence in product and people.
  13. Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders across multiple functions.
  14. Experience from fintech or retail sector is a strong plus.

Any of the following is a nice-to-have:

  1. Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (or similar across AWS, GCP, etc.)
  2. Certified Kubernetes Administrator
  3. Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Certification
  4. Terraform Associate Certification
  5. Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
  6. ITIL Foundation
