Job summary

McCarthy Tétrault is seeking a Senior Applications Analyst to join our team across Canada (Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, or Montreal). The successful candidate will have a minimum of seven years of progressive IT experience with three or more years in a lead analyst role.

You will lead analysis, design, testing, and deployment of updates across the application portfolio, liaising with security, QA, and enterprise teams, while mentoring junior analysts in a dynamic, cloud‑driven environment.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive IT experience, including 3+ years in a senior/lead application analyst role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent practical IT experience).
  • Broad technical knowledge across Azure, M365, networking, security, and full SDLC across on-premise and cloud.
  • Experience with ITIL and Agile/DevOps methodologies for solution delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead analysis, design, testing, and implementation of updates, enhancements, and new capabilities across the application portfolio.
  • Act as application lead for upgrades, integrations, and new deployments.
  • Gather business requirements and translate into technical specifications for cross-functional teams.

We are recruiting for a Senior Applications Analyst to join our team in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary or Montreal. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 7 years of progressive IT experience in a senior or lead application analyst role.

Salary Range (Toronto or Vancouver Only): $102,000 – $112,000 annually. The offered salary may vary based on the candidate’s job‑specific knowledge, skills, and experience.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the analysis, design, testing, and implementation of updates, enhancements, and new capabilities across the application portfolio.
  • Participate as application lead for projects related to upgrades, integrations, and new deployments.
  • Gather and document business requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and coordinate with cross‑functional teams.
  • Monitor application performance and availability on a daily basis, troubleshoot issues promptly, and implement solutions to maximize system reliability.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for application configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Adhere to ITIL best practices, security policies, and governance standards across the application portfolio.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource, mentoring Application Analysts and supporting the manager of Applications.
  • Act as key liaison with the Security team to support security governance processes.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance teams to support and strengthen testing and quality processes.
  • Support the implementation, configuration, and integration of AI‑enabled capabilities within the enterprise application portfolio.
  • Identify opportunities to improve application performance, reliability, and user experience through trend analysis and operational insights.
  • Provide second/third level support in incident resolution related to applications, with a focus on escalated issues, root cause analysis, and major/high priority incidents.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent practical experience in IT).
  • 7+ years of progressive IT experience, including 3+ years in a senior/lead application analyst role.
  • Broad technical knowledge across modern IT environments including Azure, Microsoft 365, networking, security principles, and full SDLC experience across on‑premise and cloud platforms.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, design, and implement application solutions and digital initiatives (e.g., cloud migrations, process automations, AI‑powered tools).
  • Experience with ITIL framework and Agile/DevOps methodology for solution delivery.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to manage relationships with both business stakeholders and external partners/vendors.
  • Experience in a cloud‑first and AI‑focused organization is an asset; familiarity with Microsoft 365 Copilot or Claude for Work is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#/.NET, Python and other programming languages.
  • Hands‑on familiarity with AI tools and platforms such as Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI services, OpenAI technologies, Anthropic Claude, or comparable large language model ecosystems.
  • Working experience supporting Windows operating systems and the Microsoft Office/M365 suite.
  • Working experience with Microsoft Intune, SCCM, Active Directory and Azure AD.
  • Experience using Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate).
  • Experience with modern enterprise database technologies and Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Experience applying Application System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and development standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to lead meetings and collaborate effectively.
  • Demonstrated ownership of tasks and projects, proactive in identifying solutions or improvements.
  • Strategic thinking and sound problem‑solving skills in complex or ambiguous situations.
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent pieces of work and prioritize effectively.
  • Maintains composure and effectiveness under pressure, delivering results within tight timelines.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills for independent and collaborative work.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset.
