Job summary

Morningstar DBRS in Toronto is seeking a Senior Analyst for the Energy & Natural Resources Ratings group. You will analyze corporate credit ratings across Mining, Forestry, Regulated Utilities, Oil & Gas, Pipeline and Midstream sectors, build forecasts, and prepare rating materials and reports.

The role involves publishing commentary and research pieces, supporting rating decisions at committees, and contributing to methodologies while maintaining high-quality credit analysis and strong

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of business experience in credit, financial services and/or with companies operating in the Oil & Gas, Pipeline and Midstream sectors.
  • MBA / CFA or Masters with a finance discipline is preferred.
  • University degree in accounting, business, economics, and/or engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead analyst in covering a diverse portfolio of Mining, Forestry, Regulated Utilities, Oil & Gas, Pipeline and Midstream ratings.
  • Analyze and assess the credit worthiness of corporate issuers in the relevant sectors.
  • Communicate analytical findings and recommendations at rating committees.
  • Produce timely, high-quality credit reports, research notes, and commentaries on rated entities.
  • Manage extensive spreadsheets on rated entities.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of relationships with fixed-income investors.
  • Analytically support business development initiatives.
  • Contribute to the refinement of methodologies, research products, and rating approaches.
  • Contribute to the delivery of timely and innovative topical research.
