About the role

Corporate Development is responsible for the execution of corporate transactions for Sun Life, which includes the acquisition and divestiture of companies, operations or books of business, equity investments, as well as the formation of joint ventures and other strategic partnerships. The Senior Analyst, Corporate Development will join a high-performing team and will work closely with Sun Life’s business units across various geographies globally in the execution of acquisitions and investments to support Sun Life’s strategic ambitions.

What will you do?
  • Play a key role in the evaluation of strategic opportunities, including merger and acquisition (M&A), joint ventures, partnerships, and minority investments
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models for valuation, transaction analysis, and strategic planning purposes
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners (investment bankers, lawyers, and accountants) on transaction processes across our global businesses
  • Support all stages of transaction life cycle and manage multi-functional due diligence processes to identify risks and mitigants
  • Conduct industry research, market analysis, and competitive benchmarking to identify industry trends and opportunities
  • Undertake ad-hoc analyses to support business planning and other strategic projects
What do you need to succeed?
  • 1-3 years of experience in a role involving business valuation, financial modelling, or corporate finance, preferably in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field.
  • In-depth expertise in financial modelling, with demonstrated experience in building and managing models from scratch
  • Excellent understanding of corporate finance concepts, financial statement analysis, and valuation methodologies
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with experience in creating visually compelling presentations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex information to non-finance professionals
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Unquestionable personal code of ethics, integrity, and trust
Preferred Skills
  • Relevant professional designations (e.g., CFA, CBV, CPA) considered an advantage
  • Experience and proficiency in Bloomberg and Capital IQ

  • Willingness and ability to deliver high-quality work over long hours and under very tight timeframes, as required in special situations
