Job summary

A leading utility company is hiring a Senior Analyst for Corporate Accounting in Edmonton. We are hiring a Senior Analyst Corporate Accounting Temporary Full Time up to 18 months in Edmonton AB.

Highlights of the job

As a Senior Analyst Corporate Accounting you will play a critical role in ensuring financial integrity for the reporting of EPCORs Corporate functions. This position is responsible for delivering accurate accounting services to Corporate shared service departments as well as other corporate transactions such as financing activities.

As a valuable member of the Corporate Accounting team you will have strong attention to detail foster strong cross‑functional relationships and ensure financial processes are in compliance with all policies, standards and controls.

What you would be responsible for
  • Recording and reviewing Corporate journal entries, accruals, adjustments and invoicing with accuracy and timeline.
  • Monitoring account reconciliations, variance analyses and resolving discrepancies proactively.
  • Preparing and presenting monthly financial reports and year‑over‑year analyses to senior leadership.
  • Advising shared service groups on financial matters including the support of financial systems and tools used by the organization.
  • Planning, coordinating processing and reviewing the annual budget and forecast updates for the Corporate shared service departments and financing activities.
  • Contributing to the design and implementing financial processes that comply with policies, standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Supporting special projects such as regulatory filings, corporate reorganizations and financial system implementations.
Qualifications, experience and behaviours you possess are:
  • A degree in Business (or a related field) from a recognized post‑secondary educational institute.
  • A CPA professional accounting designation is required.
  • 4 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills specifically in Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Knowledge and use of Oracle financial systems and planning tools such as Adaptive.
  • Ability to apply relevant knowledge and technical skills to ensure the adherence to financial reporting practices, policies, controls and accounting standards.
  • Proven track record for strong attention to detail, building effective cross‑functional relationships and a focus on continuous process improvements.

Benefits

Hours of work: 75 hours biweekly

Wage: Starting at $52.35 per hour (Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and based on a combination of factors as outlined in the Collective Agreement).

To meet the physical demands required of some positions candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on pre‑placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required.

To be considered for this position you must be at least 18 years of age, successfully attained a high school diploma (GED or equivalent level of secondary education) and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)

Some EPCOR positions require an enhanced level of background assessment which is dictated by law. These positions require advanced criminal record checks that must also be conducted from time to time after commencement of employment.

A technical / practical assessment may be administered during the selection process and this exercise will be used as a part of the selection criterion.
