Job summary

National Bank of Canada is seeking a Senior Analyst in Credit Risk Analytics to lead IFRS-9 reporting and analytics, along with IFRS-9 and stress-testing model development and performance monitoring.

You will support related risk functions including RWA, Economic Capital and stress testing, applying strong analytical skills to build advanced models and robust risk processes for senior management.

Qualifications

  • Masters in a relevant field (Financial Engineering, Finance, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science).
  • CFA and/or FRM would be an asset.
  • SAS certification would be an asset.
  • Hands‑on experience with large enterprise data sets.
  • Knowledge of IFRS-9 and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with SAS, SQL, MS Excel (VBA) or Python.
  • Knowledge of AI and Machine Learning would be an asset.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills; ability to explain results clearly.
  • Detail oriented with ability to see the big picture.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with limited guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and recalibrate IFRS-9 and stress testing models for wholesale and retail portfolios.
  • Conduct model backtesting and monitor performance; propose actions as needed.
  • Keep current with modeling methodologies, tools, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform IFRS-9 ECL impact assessments for recalibration, scenario changes, updates, data migration.
  • Operate and maintain IFRS-9 ECL reporting processes for timely results.
  • Validate inputs/outputs for quality control and governance.
  • Provide in-depth analysis on IFRS-9 results and drivers of ECL movements.
  • Prepare IFRS-9 ECL materials for stakeholders, auditors and regulators.
  • Identify opportunities to improve IFRS-9 ECL calculation engine.

This role will also need to support other closely related risk functions that includes RWA, Economic Capital and stress testing.   • Develop and recalibrate IFRS-9 and stress testing models for the Bank’s wholesale and retail portfolios. Document the data selection, modeling techniques and implementation.
  • Conduct model backtesting, monitor model performance and propose appropriate model actions when necessary.
  • Keep abreast of up-to-date modeling methodologies, tools and regulatory requirements.

  • Provide support for ad-hoc requests required by IFRS-9 stakeholders and senior management in a precise and efficient manner.
  • Develop and maintain the IFRS-9 related documentation. Review and evaluate the technical implementation and results.
  • Contribute to strategic risk initiatives by using analytical skills to project potential losses and make recommendations to limit risk.
  • Demonstrate insight into internal client's business and develop innovative solutions that create value.

Prerequisites:
