Job summary

Fortiv Technical Inc. seeks an AI Engineer to build production-grade backend systems powering agentic AI workflows in a hybrid environment in Canada.

You will design retrieval pipelines, evaluate LLM-powered applications, and collaborate with product and infrastructure teams to deliver customer-focused AI solutions. The role focuses on improving accuracy, latency, and performance of AI systems, with experience in Python, cloud infrastructure, and distributed systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend systems.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with search, retrieval, or ranking systems.
• Experience building or evaluating LLM-powered applications, RAG pipelines, or agentic workflows.
• Strong Python and backend engineering skills, with experience in cloud infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Pinecone, FAISS, PostgreSQL/PGVector, or similar technologies.
• Experience using AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code.
• A customer-first mindset, strong ownership, and the ability to turn ambiguous challenges into practical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy backend systems that power agentic workflows and multi-step AI agents.
• Design and optimize retrieval, ranking, and RAG pipelines using hybrid search, vector databases, and reranking techniques.
• Develop evaluation frameworks to measure AI quality, relevance, latency, and end-to-end task success.
• Improve LLM-powered workflows for accuracy, reliability, and performance in production.
• Collaborate with product, data, and infrastructure teams to deliver customer-focused AI solutions.
• Explore and integrate emerging advances in LLMs, retrieval architectures, and agentic reasoning.
