Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Advisory Consultant to lead operational readiness, business readiness and organizational transition services for major infrastructure programs.

You will partner with clients across public and private sectors to ensure safe and efficient handover from construction to steady-state operations, applying governance, risk management and change leadership to drive successful outcomes. The role also involves collaboration across regional teams in a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in engineering, business, planning, project management or related discipline.
• Minimum of ten years of relevant infrastructure experience.
• Experience in operational readiness, change management, governance and assurance.
• Demonstrated ability to work in complex, multidisciplinary, multi-stakeholder environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of operational readiness, activation and transition strategies for major infrastructure programs and projects.
• Lead development of operational readiness frameworks, governance structures, stage gates, readiness criteria and decision-making processes.
• Lead readiness assessments, operational assurance reviews and evidence-based reporting.
• Lead the development of readiness KPIs, dashboards, maturity assessments and reporting frameworks.
• Lead business readiness and change management activities to prepare people, processes and systems for transition into operations.
• Lead planning and execution of operational readiness activities including procedures, workforce readiness, documentation and organizational preparation.
• Lead development of acceptance, handover and transfer requirements between project delivery teams and operational organizations.
• Lead operational risk identification, assessment and mitigation planning throughout project delivery.
• Lead stakeholder engagement, workshops and interviews to align diverse stakeholders with shared goals.
• Develop workplans, coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, manage deliverables and monitor scope, schedule, budget and risks.
• Apply quality management processes and support development of junior team members.

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Senior Consultant to lead the delivery of operational readiness, business readiness and organizational transition services for major infrastructure projects across public and private sector clients.

The successful candidate will work on complex infrastructure programs and projects, supporting clients in preparing for the safe, effective and efficient transition from construction and commissioning into steady-state operations. Assignments may include operational readiness, activation and transition planning, business readiness and change management, operational governance, asset handover, operational assurance, stakeholder alignment and organizational preparedness.

The role requires strong analytical, problem-solving and change and/or project management capability, together with the ability to synthesize complex information and communicate practical, evidence-based recommendations to clients and senior decision-makers. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, manage competing priorities and contribute to successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities will involve:

• Lead the development and implementation of operational readiness, activation and transition strategies for major infrastructure programs and projects
• Lead the development of operational readiness frameworks, governance structures, stage gates, readiness criteria and decision-making processes
• Lead readiness assessments, operational assurance reviews and evidence-based reporting to evaluate organizational preparedness for operational commencement
• Lead the development of readiness KPIs, dashboards, maturity assessments and reporting frameworks to monitor progress toward operational commencement
• Lead business readiness and change management activities to prepare people, processes and systems for transition into operations
• Lead the planning and execution of operational readiness activities including operational procedures, workforce readiness, operational documentation and organizational preparation
• Lead the development of acceptance, handover and transfer requirements between project delivery teams and operational organizations
• Lead operational risk identification, assessment and mitigation planning, ensuring operational risks are effectively managed throughout project delivery
• Lead operational exercises, operational proving activities, simulation exercises, emergency preparedness activities and operational trial runs
• Lead stakeholder engagement, workshops and interviews, bringing together diverse stakeholder groups including owners, operators, maintainers, contractors, and regulators, supporting alignment of shared operational goals
• Develop workplans, coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, manage assigned deliverables and monitor scope, schedule, budget, quality and risks
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative research and analysis, synthesize findings and prepare high-quality reports, presentations, briefing materials and other client deliverables
• Coordinate and collaborate with technical, commercial and specialist disciplines across local, regional and global teams
• Apply quality management processes, including reviewing project outputs and supporting the development of junior team members
• Lead project commercial management activities, including forecasting, invoicing, change management and performance reporting
• Contribute to business development through client engagement, opportunity identification, proposal development, scope definition, resourcing and work planning
• Build trusted client relationships and contribute to knowledge sharing, service development and continuous improvement across the Advisory practice

Candidate Specification:

The successful candidate will have:

• A post-secondary degree in engineering, business, planning, project management or another relevant discipline
• A minimum of ten years of relevant professional experience supporting and/or delivering major infrastructure programs or projects in one or more infrastructure sectors, such as major transportation, transit, aviation, health, energy or water
• Experience in one or more of operational readiness, change management, project delivery, asset management or governance and assurance
• Demonstrated experience working within complex, multidisciplinary and multi-stakeholder environments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex operational systems and translate information into practical recommendations
• Experience developing and managing workplans, coordinating stakeholders and delivering projects to agreed scope, schedule, budget and quality requirements
• Strong understanding of operational risks and the processes required to transition projects into operational service
• Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills, with experience preparing high-quality reports, presentations and client materials
• Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills, with the confidence to support and/or lead client meetings, workshops and stakeholder engagement activities
• Highly self-motivated and able to work independently while contributing effectively within team environments
• Positive, adaptable and collaborative approach aligned with delivering strong client outcomes
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience supporting the transition of assets from construction and commissioning into operations
• Experience supporting operational integration between project delivery organizations and operational stakeholders, including owners, operators, maintainers and regulators
• Experience developing operational readiness frameworks, readiness criteria and governance models
• Familiarity with ISO 55000, asset management principles and operational assurance frameworks
• Familiarity with safety management systems, regulatory approvals and operational certification processes
• Experience facilitating operational exercises, emergency exercises, integration trials or operational proving activities
• Change management credentials (CCMP, Prosci or equivalent)
• Project management credentials (PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent)

Benefits & Rewards

The expected salary range for this position is from $124,000 - $152,000.

Multiple factors such as qualifications, overall experience, and position responsibilities will be used to determine the successful candidate's actual salary within the expected range.
