Job summary

The Desjardins Group Monitoring Office (DGMO) seeks a Senior Advisor, Professional Practice and Operational Support to lead audit methodology design and practitioner training. You will guide teams, influence across the organization, and align practices with IIA standards.

You will advance audit strategy, develop professional tools, and engage stakeholders to strengthen the lines of defence. Fluency in French and professional designations are preferred for this leadership role in Montreal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
• CIA, CPA or other relevant designation either completed or in progress.
• Experience in internal audit or risk management preferred.
• Knowledge of IIA standards and internal audit best practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop audit methodology and professional tools in compliance with IIA standards.
• Support teams in applying audit practices and act as an expert advisor for complex issues.
• Design and facilitate training activities to develop auditors’ expertise and skills.
• Represent the DGMO in cross-functional initiatives to advance the lines of defence.

Job description

The Desjardins Group Monitoring Office (DGMO) carries out strategic and cross-sector audits for Desjardins’s various entities. DGMO’s Professional Practice and Operational Support Administrative Department is responsible for the internal audit strategies and methodologies used across Desjardins Group. As Senior Advisor, Professional Practice and Operational Support, you leverage your influential leadership to design impactful solutions, advance audit methodology and help raise the profile of the profession. Your strong interest in people development, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement will be essential in this role. More specifically, you will be required to:

• Develop audit methodology and professional tools in compliance with Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards
• Support teams in applying audit practices and act as an expert advisor for complex issues
• Design and facilitate training activities that promote the development of auditors’ expertise and skills
• Represent the DGMO in cross-functional initiatives aimed at advancing and coordinating the lines of defence
• Monitor best practices and recommend initiatives to advance the audit function.

What You Bring To The Table

• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• A minimum of eight years of relevant experience
• Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
• Significant experience in internal audit or risk management
• Experience in developing methodologies, training programs or professional frameworks
• Experience in a role requiring the ability to influence and engage others and explain complex concepts in simple terms
• CIA, CPA or another relevant designation, completed or in progress
• Knowledge of French is required
• Knowledge of IIA standards and internal audit best practices
