Job summary

MNP is seeking a Senior Accountant in the Standards - Technical Services team. You will advise on financial reporting matters, interpret new accounting standards, and guide team members on accounting issues across Canada.

This role emphasizes delivering high-quality deliverables, supporting training, and contributing to process improvements while maintaining strong communication with clients and colleagues in both English and French.

Qualifications

• Completion of, or working towards, a CPA designation.
• Written and verbal French and English language skills due to collaboration across Canada.
• 1–3 years of accounting and assurance experience in public accounting.
• Strong technical writing and project management skills.
• Demonstrate analytical research and critical thinking.

Responsibilities

• Work with managers and Partners to deliver industry and technical accounting expertise.
• Promote quality control in Assurance and Accounting engagements.
• Research and respond to queries under ASPE, IFRS, and CAS.
• Stay updated on profession changes through research and events.
• Contribute to accounting and assurance tools and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside managers and Partners to deliver industry and technical expertise on a variety of technical assurance and accounting matters
• Promote the importance of quality control in all Assurance and Accounting engagements and play a role in driving our quality initiatives
• Research and respond to queries under ASPE, IFRS, and CAS
• Maintain knowledge of changes in the profession through research and by attending relevant industry events and training/information session
• Support the development and maintenance of our accounting and assurance tools and protocol
• Assist with the development of accounting and assurance related training in MNP’s extensive in-house education programs; Opportunity to facilitate learning and development programs for Assurance and Accounting engagement team member
• Prepare and review high-quality deliverables, including written reports, presentations, correspondence, and other technical material and
• Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve our work processes

Skills And Experience

• Completion of, or working towards, a CPA designation
• Written and verbal French and English language skills, due to frequent collaboration with English-speaking teams/clients across Canada and some client deliverables/regulatory reporting obligation are in English
• 1 to 3 years of recent accounting and assurance related experience at a public accounting firm
• Strong technical writing and project management skills, and an understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles
• Demonstrate analytical research skills and critical thinking.
