Job summary

MNP is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Standards - Technical Services team. This bilingual role supports financial reporting across ASPE, IFRS, and CAS, advising colleagues on accounting matters and ensuring quality deliverables.

You’ll collaborate with managers and Partners across Canada, using strong writing and project management skills to develop guidance and training while advancing the firm’s accounting practice.

Qualifications

• CPA designation or in progress
• Fluent in French and English due to cross-country collaboration
• 1–3 years of public accounting experience in accounting & assurance
• Strong technical writing and project management skills
• Demonstrate analytical research and critical thinking abilities

Responsibilities

• Work with managers and Partners to provide industry and technical expertise on assurance and accounting matters
• Promote quality control in Assurance and Accounting engagements and drive quality initiatives
• Research and respond to queries under ASPE, IFRS, and CAS
• Stay updated on profession changes through research and training/events
• Support development and maintenance of accounting/assurance tools and protocols
• Assist with training programs and facilitate learning for Assurance team members
• Prepare and review high-quality deliverables like reports, presentations, and correspondence
• Contribute ideas to improve work processes

Make an impact with our Standards - Technical Services team as a Senior Accountant. This diverse team of professionals provides best-in-class industry and technical expertise to internally drive the success of our Assurance and Accounting practice. As a trusted advisor, you’ll advise and assist team members on financial reporting matters including interpreting and providing guidance on new accounting standards.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside managers and Partners to deliver industry and technical expertise on a variety of technical assurance and accounting matters
• Promote the importance of quality control in all Assurance and Accounting engagements and play a role in driving our quality initiatives
• Research and respond to queries under ASPE, IFRS, and CAS
• Maintain knowledge of changes in the profession through research and by attending relevant industry events and training/information session
• Support the development and maintenance of our accounting and assurance tools and protocol
• Assist with the development of accounting and assurance related training in MNP’s extensive in-house education programs; Opportunity to facilitate learning and development programs for Assurance and Accounting engagement team member
• Prepare and review high-quality deliverables, including written reports, presentations, correspondence, and other technical material
• Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve our work processes

Skills And Experience

• Completion of, or working towards, a CPA designation
• Written and verbal French and English language skills, due to frequent collaboration with English-speaking teams/clients across Canada and some client deliverables/regulatory reporting obligation are in English
• 1 to 3 years of recent accounting and assurance related experience at a public accounting firm
• Strong technical writing and project management skills, and an understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles
• Demonstrate analytical research skills and critical thinking.
