Role Summary

The Senior Fixed Asset Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of accounting relating to capital and expense projects as well as performing various analytical procedures, managing month‑end close, completing the month‑end process related to Fixed Assets and provide support for the Manager Corporate Accounting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, review and present the monthly Fixed Asset reports in a timely manner
  • Prepare all financial statement notes, audit requests and management reporting associated with Fixed Assets
  • Assist with memos and policies as required
  • Liaise with accounting, treasury and fleet management to understand, document and report on the monthly fixed asset capital expenditures
  • Provide various financial information to stakeholders
  • Provide support for internal audit compliance, external auditors, and tax
  • Create and manage non‑aircraft lease accounting based on IFRS and US leasing standard in dedicated software program and prepare / post monthly entries and reconciliations
  • Prepare month‑end journal entries
  • Prepare monthly Cash flow and Capex
  • Prepare monthly Gain / Loss analysis
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual depreciation analysis
  • Prepare other monthly reconciliations
  • Ensure consolidation follows US GAAP and statutory filings follow local GAAP
  • Ensure depreciation is in accordance with CHC’s depreciation policy
  • Ensure profit elimination is booked for intercompany fixed asset work performed
  • Review fixed asset suspense account and liaise with various CHC groups to determine if work is completed
  • Review IT expenses to ensure they are non‑capital in nature and monitor actual cost to budget
  • Review existing depreciation policy to re‑align and reflect the most recent fair market valuation to minimize future impairment
  • Review classification on approved Authorized Fixed Expenditures and query initiator for further clarification to ensure proper classification
  • Support and prepare MD&A notes at year end related to fixed assets
  • Support and prepare postings related to fixed asset impairments
  • Mentor other divisions with the fixed asset module
  • Assist with ad hoc requests and projects such as statutory financial statement preparation
  • Assist with recording of aircraft movement (disposal, intercompany and external sales)
  • Determine revised amount to depreciate for local statutory purposes aligned with the depreciation life of a consolidated basis
  • Amend existing Fixed Asset Training manual as needed
  • Participate in internal audit testing in other financial areas
  • Contribute to CHC process improvement initiatives
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
Required:
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting
  • CPA
  • 5+ years’ experience in accounting (in addition to education requirement)
  • Must be proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications

  • Thorough knowledge Fixed Asset / Lease Accounting
  • External audit experience
  • Experience with Infor M3 general ledger system
  • International accounting experience
  • IFRS accounting experience
