Job summary

Titan Trailers is seeking a Senior Accountant / Controller to lead accounting and financial reporting across Canadian and international entities. You will oversee AP/AR, payroll, fixed assets, inventory, cash, and GL, while driving month-end close and strategic analysis.

You will develop budgets, forecasts, and financial models, provide insights to leadership, and ensure internal controls and regulatory compliance. Strong ERP experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, commerce or related field.
  • CPA designation required or actively pursuing completion.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Minimum 3 years in a senior accounting, supervisory or management role.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred; multi-entity/international experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting functions: AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, inventory, cash, GL.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for Canadian and international entities.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close with timely reporting.
  • Develop and maintain financial reporting packages for ownership and executives.

This role provides leadership in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, internal controls, and regulatory compliance. The Senior Accountant / Controller ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial information and supports executive leadership with strategic financial insights to drive business performance and growth.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant / Controller is responsible for the overall financial management of the organization and ensuring that accounting operations are efficient, compliant, and aligned with business objectives.

Financial Management & Reporting
  • Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, inventory accounting, cash management, and general ledger activities.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple Canadian and international entities.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
  • Develop and maintain financial reporting packages for ownership, executive leadership, and operational management.
  • Analyze financial results and provide recommendations to improve profitability, cash flow, and operational performance.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide management with meaningful financial analysis and business insights.
Budgeting, Planning & Analysis
  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Prepare financial models and forecasts to support strategic initiatives and operational planning.
  • Analyze budget-to-actual results and identify risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.
  • Support business decision-making through financial analysis, scenario planning, and cost-benefit evaluations.
Compliance & Internal Controls
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian and United States accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and taxation obligations.
  • Oversee corporate, payroll, sales tax, and other tax filings.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to protect company assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Maintain and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with lender, insurance, audit, and governance requirements.
Audit & Risk Management
  • Coordinate all external audits, reviews, and government reporting requirements.
  • Prepare year-end working papers and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain a complete audit trail and supporting documentation for all financial transactions.
  • Assess financial risks and recommend mitigating actions.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to accounting team members.
  • Collaborate with department managers to support operational and financial objectives.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reporting accuracy, and financial controls.
  • Support ERP, accounting software, and financial system implementations and upgrades.
  • Participate in strategic planning initiatives and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field.
  • CPA designation required or actively pursuing completion.

Technical Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian GAAP and financial best practices.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
  • Experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
  • Experience with Sage 300, EasyPay, BambooHR, or similar business systems considered an asset.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting capabilities.
