Job summary

MNP is a leading national accounting, tax and business advisory firm in Canada, seeking an experienced public accountant based in Quebec. You will perform compilations, reviews and audits, while mentoring junior staff and contributing to client service excellence.

Qualifications

• CPA designation required.
• 2 to 4 years of public accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Experience with accounting and tax software.
• Understanding of business, accounting, management and business development principles.

Responsibilities

• Perform compilation, review, and audit engagements; provide bookkeeping and tax services.
• Prepare files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses; manage multiple engagements and conduct inventory counts.
• Perform walkthrough testing of accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital asset acquisitions/disposals, and payroll processes.
• Summarize the client’s current financial position by gathering information and preparing balance sheets, income statements and other reports.
• Evaluate and ensure the appropriateness of audit evidence supporting expenses, revenues, and other items.
• Review and correct discrepancies in financial records and reports.
• Develop charts of accounts and prepare journal entries for inclusion in the accounts.
• Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining findings.
• Build working relationships with clients; mentor and guide less experienced team members.
• Participate in business development initiatives and identify new opportunities.
• Be willing to travel as required.

Skills And Experience

• CPA designation obtained.
• 2 to 4 years of relevant public accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience with accounting and tax software.
• Understanding of business, accounting, management, and business development principles.
