Location

This is an in-person role in the Toronto office. Candidates must be based within a 50-mile commuting distance of the office (240 Richmond Street W) and able to be physically present in the office 4 days a week.

About the Role

We’re seeking an exceptional Senior Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance team. This role will be a significant contributor to the accounting and reconciliation of our Treasury, Debt, and Adjacent Services operations.

What You Will Do
  • Prepare journal entries to record revenue transactions, operating expense, balance sheet, and cash for our Treasury, Debt, and Adjacent Services operations in NetSuite.
  • Reconcile property settlement statements to cash paid or received
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies by coordinating with title agencies and internal stakeholders
  • Prepare month-end balance sheet reconciliations, supporting schedules, and fluctuation (flux) analyses
  • Prepare and review journal entries related to cash activity and perform bank reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Support the preparation of Opendoor’s financial statements and assist with external financial statement audits, including audit support and documentation
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and scalability as the business grows
  • Prepare monthly consolidation and elimination journal entries, including transactions involving multiple currencies
  • Provide guidance and review support for more junior team members, as needed
What You Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 5+ years of Accounting experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with excellent Excel skills
  • Desire to work in a fast growing, exciting and agile business
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment, including with teammates in other locations
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines, independently manage your time and be self-motivated
Bonus Points if you have:
  • Real estate accounting experience
  • NetSuite or other ERP experience
  • Licensed CPA or CPA candidate
  • Revenue and/or consolidation experience
  • Basic understanding of SQL
Compensation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The pay range for this position in Toronto, Ontario, Canada is C$75,000.00 - C$94,000.00 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on your qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.
