Job summary

CanadaOne Auto Group Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our finance team. You will assist the Controller with daily accounting operations, produce reconciliations, and support month-end and year-end closing.

The ideal candidate has automotive dealership accounting experience, proficiency in Reynolds & Reynolds and Excel, strong attention to detail, and the ability to lead and mentor staff in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in automotive dealership accounting (required).
• Experience as a Senior Accountant or Assistant Controller is an asset.
• Strong understanding of dealership accounting processes (deal posting, inventory, manufacturer programs).
• Proficiency in Reynolds & Reynolds and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Controller in managing daily accounting operations and general ledger activities.
• Deal posting, bank reconciliation, floor plan reconciliation and reconciliation of schedules.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Monitor and reconcile dealership schedules, including vehicle inventory, flooring, and intercompany accounts.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and accounting standards.
• Review deals for accuracy and proper posting in the accounting system.
• Support audits and liaise with external auditors as required.
• Train and mentor junior accounting staff.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiencies within the accounting department.
