Senior Accountant

Position Summary: The Senior Accountant serves as a vital member of the finance department, providing comprehensive support for financial operations across multiple entities. This position requires substantial expertise in commercial property management accounting, advanced analytical abilities, and a demonstrated commitment to improving financial performance within a mission-driven environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, a strategic perspective, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced, collaborative workplace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the complete accounting cycle for several companies within the group to ensure all processes are accurate and compliant with applicable standards.
  • Manage property-level budgets by preparing forecasts, cash flow projections, and conducting variance analyses as required.
  • Administer lease accounting, perform Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations, handle tenant billings, and manage rent rolls effectively.
  • Track capital expenditures, maintain up-to-date depreciation schedules, and produce detailed asset management reports.
  • Work closely with property managers to ensure proper allocation of expenses and the timely processing of vendor payments.
  • Supervise payroll activities, oversee benefits administration, and implement operational cost controls.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to the company’s established financial policies and procedures.
  • Provide actionable financial insights to support strategic decision-making across various departments.
  • Prepare and file HST/GST returns, ensuring full compliance with relevant tax regulations.
  • Support ad hoc financial analyses, assist with acquisition activities, and contribute to the preparation of financing documentation as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA designation is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including a minimum of 2 years in commercial property management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Yardi, or other real estate accounting platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of lease accounting and financial compliance standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Language: English & Mandarin (required).
