Job Title: Senior Accountant
Location: Niagara Region, ON
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: $70,000-$100,000/year

Position Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, the Senior Accountant will work closely with the finance team to support strategic decision‑making, financial reporting, and operational performance. This role oversees core accounting functions, prepares monthly financial statements, and assists with audits, budgeting, and system improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll general ledger imports, ensuring accurate monthly reconciliations
  • Perform month‑end adjusting entries and reconciliations
  • Prepare accurate and reliable monthly financial statements, including Ministry of Health reconciliations and envelope balancing
  • Lead month‑end and year‑end closing processes
  • Prepare and submit working papers and schedules for the annual audit and assist with coordination and planning
  • Maintain and monitor organizational cashflows and cash positions
  • Assist with the annual budget process, collaborating with management and operations
  • Support policy development, system implementation, and process improvement initiatives
  • Maintain strong internal financial controls and identify opportunities for enhancement
  • Provide mentorship and indirect supervision to junior team members
  • Perform other duties as required
Qualifications and Skills
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • CPA designation required
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Ontario Healthcare industry experience in financial reporting and business performance analysis (asset)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex reconciliations and data analysis
  • Experience with Great Plains, PointClickCare, and payroll systems (assets)
  • Experience with Business Automation tools and system implementations (asset)
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
