Job description

Phasor Engineering is a dynamic North America based company specializing in engineering, design, panel fabrication, and testing/commissioning of high voltage electrical facilities. Our focus is to incorporate the latest technological advances to provide the most cost-effective and efficient solutions to power system engineering. This focus allows us to be involved in a diverse range of projects from conceptual engineering through to commissioning and startup.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a full-time basis. This role will be based out of our Calgary, AB office. The Senior Accountant will be responsible in maintaining project controls, performing project analytics, completing month and year end close procedures and financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders.

Job Duties
  1. Job set up and billing
    • Set-up of jobs and budgets when required.
    • Manage projects and cost codes creation in JDE.
    • Monthly project billing.
  2. Month and year end procedures
    • Assist in month end reporting to parent company.
    • Intercompany balancing and reconciliation.
    • For non-percentage of completion jobs:
      • Provide cost and revenue by work order reports to the project management team.
      • Work with the project management team to identify unbilled units at the end of the month in order to calculate and accrue unbilled revenue.
      • Where possible, margin by cost type analysis in order to determine if all billable costs have been recovered.
    • Prepare margin analysis comments for monthly vs job to date results.
    • Support reporting up to Quanta for monthly rolling forecast, variance analysis, etc.
    • Balance sheet reconciliations including:
      • Unbilled revenue reconciliation and analysis including breakdown of unbilled revenue into late, claim, timing, etc.
      • Accrued liabilities reconciliation and analysis.
      • Received not vouchered analysis and cleanup.
      • Post close AP analysis for missed accruals.
  3. Audit Preparation and Support
    • Respond to project accounting questions.
    • Compile information for internal and external auditors as required.
    • Audit supplier invoices back to contract and bid documentation.
Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate be pursuing or will have a CPA designation or equivalent.
  • 5 or more years related industry and project accounting experience.
Requirements
  • Experience with JDE and OneStream is an asset.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency.
  • Strong understanding of Construction Revenue Recognition principles.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Proactive and demonstrate initiative in identifying and taking on projects and duties.
  • Pride in work and attention to detail and accuracy are essential.
