We partner with a dedicated community of volunteer blood donors to ensure that over 40 hospitals have access to a reliable flood supply. We are seeing a Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, at least five years of general accounting experience, and a solid grasp of core accounting principles. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent time-management skills to meet monthly and annual reporting deadlines, and proficiency in advanced Excel as well as multiple accounting software systems. Experience with accounting controls, financial planning, and budgeting is preferred as you help strengthen our financial processes and deliver accurate, timely insights.

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant performs a broad range of advanced accounting duties, including month-end close activities and the preparation of financial reports and analyses. This role is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, managing bi-weekly payroll, accounts payable, purchasing, and fixed asset accounting. The Senior Accountant also develops and maintains internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial transactions and activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned)
  • Responsible for month-end close activities and general ledger maintenance, including daily and monthly postings and adjustments. Provides accounting information to others as needed. Assures appropriate controls are established and followed to ensure all transactions are accurate and complete.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and budget reports for expense review process. Prepares necessary financial reports for Management, and monitors variances between actual and budgeted income and expenses during the fiscal year. Also, assists with the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Responsible for GL account reconciliations and promotes a culture of strong internal controls.
  • Maintain detail fixed asset record of capital equipment, including depreciation expense, disposals, and reconciliations.
  • Participate in monthly physical inventory count at Appleton Donor Center. Lab and Warehouse. Must be flexible with timing of cycle count (off-hours).
  • Responsible for bi-weekly payroll processing in HRIS. Ensures appropriate controls are established and maintained, and all transactions are accurate and complete.
  • Review and post Accounting Specialist’s AP batches and print checks.
  • Monthly review and verification of monthly expense reports for proper coding and approval.
  • Assist in the monthly sales invoicing and recording.
  • Assists with the annual financial statement audit; preparing workpapers and support as needed for the auditors.
  • Serves as backup to Accounting Specialist.
  • Participate in various projects and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures as outlined in the CBC Team Member Handbook, CBC SOPs, or directives. Maintains current level of job-related skills by attending in-services, training sessions, and reading publications.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of general accounting experience.
  • Solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles.
  • Experience with accounting controls, financial planning, and budgeting preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent time-management skills to meet monthly and annual reporting deadlines.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with multiple accounting software systems.
  • Ability to occasionally lift materials or objects up to 30 pounds.
