Senior Accountant – Public Accounting (Hybrid, Full-Time, Permanent)

Location: Calgary, AB

Salary: $70,000 to $95,000 per year

About the Opportunity

Our client, a mid‑sized public accounting firm located on the west side of downtown Calgary, is growing and seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team. The Role

As a Senior Accountant, you'll manage a range of client files and tax engagements, working closely with both partners and junior staff. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a mix of independent work, team collaboration, and direct client interaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently prepare working paper files for compilation engagements in CaseWare
  • Prepare T2 corporate tax returns, T1 personal returns, T3 trust returns, T5013s, T5s, and T4s
  • Identify and correct tax and accounting errors for corporate and personal clients
  • Perform bookkeeping tasks including bank reconciliations, GST / HST reports, and general ledger entries
  • Support junior staff by answering technical questions and providing training and mentorship
  • Assist partners in reviewing staff files, offering feedback and coaching where needed
  • Ensure client budgets, file turnaround times, and internal expectations are met
About You
  • Minimum 4 years of public accounting experience
  • CPA Designation Required
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
  • Proficient in CaseWare, CaseView, and TaxCycle (or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel and Word
  • Experience with Sage 50, QuickBooks (desktop and online), and Xero (asset)
  • Professional, respectful, and client‑focused, with a strong understanding of small business needs
