Job summary

University of Rochester is seeking a part-time Food Service Worker to support a busy dining operation at 475 Alumni Rd, Rochester, NY. The role involves cleaning equipment, utensils, and work areas, and assisting with supply handling in a food service department.

Under supervision, you will operate dishwashing equipment, assist in stock replenishment, and help with occasional counter service. Must be able to stand, walk, lift, and perform cleaning tasks as required.

The referenced pay range represents the first and last step pay rates for this job, as set forth in the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Individual pay will be set in accordance with terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities:

Cleans equipment, utensils, pots and pans, and work areas including floors and walls, and handles supplies in a food service department.

SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION RECEIVED: Under immediate supervision of area supervisor.

SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION EXERCISED:None.

MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED:Dishwasher, Pot and Pan Washer, other cleaning supplies and equipment, materials handling equipment, and other related equipment.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

1. 1.Picks up used dishes from counter areas and tables, etc. Prepares for washing by scraping and pre-rinsing and washes by machine, or by hand, silver, china, glasses and/or pots and pans.
2. 2.Performs general helper duties and assists in handling supplies and food as directed:a) Replenishes milk supply.b) Transports supplies, equipment, and materials, as directed.c) Picks up dishes, etc. from tables when necessary.d) Unpacks stock.e) May, on occasion, help serve on counter or perform other duties in food service area.
3. 3.Maintains prescribed sanitation standards performing duties such as:a) Cleans Machines and kitchen equipment. b) Washes floors and walls.c) May wax floors.d) May clean windows and do other general cleaning as directed.
4. 4. Performs other duties as directed.
