Job description

Convergint is currently recruiting for an experienced Security Systems Technician to join their Parachute Team in Canada. This is a mobile role with regular travel outside of local your local CTC (Convergint Technology Centre) area.

Shift schedule:

  • This role offers a regular shift of 14 days on, 14 days off, with accommodation provided for the duration of your shift.

As a technician in our Security Parachute (travel) team, this position is responsible for installing programming, system start‑up/check‑out, certification, and related customer training on assigned Security projects including small to large projects that typically have a higher degree of complexity. Scope of work includes technical assistance, systems checkout of new and existing installations, troubleshooting and maintenance and repair routines associated with installed systems and the installation of small or less complex projects.

What you’ll do with “Our Training and Your Experience”
  • Installs, programs, tests, repairs, and services a substantial variety of security systems and equipment. Colleague is key interface for the provision of technical support and training for the customer and as such is accountable for maximizing customer satisfaction. Assignments are broad in nature and may require a high level of ingenuity and proficiency.
  • Reads complex blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation requirements; Interprets manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repairs equipment, utilizing knowledge of electronics and using advanced test instruments and hand tools.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and debug a substantial variety of systems for complex problems. Uses advanced troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
  • Operates systems to demonstrate equipment, commission new systems, analyze performance and identify malfunctions. Writes non‑routine programs of substantial variety and complexity for systems.
  • May provide custom systems integrations, detailed systems upgrade planning and execution, systems audits and consultation, and/or database management and manipulation. May install, configure, and support a variety of network systems and equipment for assigned projects.
  • Consults with engineering team to resolve unusual problems in system operation, maintenance, and warranty work.
  • Acts as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times thereby ensuring Convergint is the customer’s first choice for service. Takes ownership of onsite project including safety, quality and performance.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
What You’ll Need
  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to anticipate and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
  • Advanced technical skills and experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
  • Must be a self‑starter and work well with minimal supervision.
  • Solid mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper).
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced organizational skills.
  • Highly proficient computer skills including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Requirements
  • Minimum of five years of previous, security systems field service experience.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance an asset.
  • This is a mobile position and significant travel is required.
  • Diploma in Electronics preferred.
  • Relevant trade experience preferred.
  • Industry‑specific certifications such as Lenel, Genetec, CCure, AMAG, Kantech, Avigilon, are an asset.
