Job Title: Security Professional

Location: Whitby, ON

Type: Full Time & Part Time

Pay Rate: $17.60 per hour

Shifts: Full Time: Monday - Friday: 2359-0800 (Overnight)

Part Time: Saturday - Sunday: 2000-0800 (Overnight)

Overview :

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Security Professional to join our team. Prior experience working in security is an asset..The ideal security professional will have a strong presence, the ability to handle stressful situations, and an unwavering commitment to maintaining a secure environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor Facility Access: Control access to designated shelter or service areas within the transit station. Ensure only authorized individuals enter restricted spaces by verifying identification and maintaining access logs as needed.
  • Conflict Resolution: Respond promptly to disputes or disturbances involving patrons, staff, or the public. Use de‑escalation techniques and maintain a calm, professional demeanor in high‑stress or unpredictable outdoor environments.
  • Emergency Response: Act swiftly in emergency situations (e.g., medical incidents, fires, or security threats). Follow established protocols, assist with evacuations, and coordinate with emergency services when necessary.
  • Safety & Security Patrols: Conduct regular foot patrols of the transit station, including platforms, bus terminals, entrances, and adjacent outdoor areas. Monitor for suspicious behavior, vandalism, and safety hazards. Secure doors, gates, or restricted areas as appropriate.
  • Incident Reporting: Document and report all safety concerns, disturbances, or policy violations in a timely and detailed manner. Maintain clear communication with supervisors, transit authorities, and partner agencies.
  • Maintain Visible Presence: Remain highly visible and approachable throughout the station, including outdoor areas, to deter negative behaviors and provide a reassuring presence to commuters and staff. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods in all weather conditions.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with transit staff, shelter personnel, security teams, and local outreach services. Support efforts to assist individuals experiencing crisis, directing them to appropriate resources when needed.

REQUIREMENTS:
