Job summary

Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited is seeking a Security Officer at Starlight Casino. The role is casual with an hourly wage of $24.24, offering security oversight across the casino and adherence to gaming regulations.

You will ensure guest and employee safety while delivering strong customer service, with flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Required are security training (GSO or BST with BC Security License), Serving It Right, and ability to stand long hours, lift up to 25

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of experience in a security role.
• Proven high level of customer service.
• Detail-oriented and organized.
• Solid analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Social perceptiveness and good vision to identify people.
• Good judgment and understanding of casino operations.
• Experience with Microsoft Word.
• Ability to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends.
• Completion of the Gaming Security Officer (GSO) training before start, or the BST and a valid BC Security License, then completion of the GSO training exam within 90 days of start.
• Completion of Serving It Right.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and push/pull up to 150 lbs.
• Capacity to physically restrain and secure individuals using prescribed techniques.

Hourly Wage: $24.24/hr

As the Security Officer, you oversee security throughout the casino, ensuring guests and employees are secure and protected at all times. In this key role, you will help create a comfortable environment where others feel the assuring calm of your presence. Internally, you will protect the company from theft and/or fraud, while delivering a rock-solid commitment to customer service. At all times, you are aware of the gaming operations and will work under provincial gaming regulations and comply with all applicable laws, policies and procedures.

• Control access to the facility and particularly to sensitive areas.
• Escort patrons and assets.
• Patrol casino property.
• Conduct incident investigations.
• Write reports and maintain a daily log.
• Perform other assigned duties as required.
• Provide first aid and medical attention as required (if IFA certified).
