Job summary

AVL Manufacturing, headquartered in Hamilton, Ontario, is seeking a Night Shift Security Guard to monitor entrances and protect people and property. The role runs from 9:30 PM to 6:00 AM, Sunday to Thursday, with duties including patrols, CCTV monitoring, and incident reporting.

The ideal candidate has security experience, is comfortable working independently or as part of a team, and is physically fit to stand for long periods in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Previous security or law enforcement experience preferred.
• Familiarity with CCTV and surveillance techniques a plus.
• Strong observational skills and alertness.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Must be physically fit and able to stand for long periods.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Job Summary:

The Security Guard’s primary function will be to monitor and authorize entrances of vehicles or people in the property and protect people and property from possible criminal activity.

Please note that the current opening is for a Night shift position, the hours of which run from 9:30 PM to 6:00 AM Sunday to Thursday.

Job Duties:

• Monitor premises through regular patrols and surveillance systems, including CCTV.
• Enforce security policies and procedures to prevent unauthorized access and ensure the safety of all individuals on‑site.
• Respond promptly to alarms, disturbances, or emergencies, assessing situations and taking appropriate action.
• Conduct thorough inspections of buildings and grounds to identify potential security risks or hazards.
• Collaborate with law enforcement when necessary and provide detailed reports on incidents or suspicious activities.
• Assist in loss prevention efforts by identifying theft risks and implementing strategies to mitigate them.
• Maintain accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and observations.

Qualifications :

• Previous experience in law enforcement or security is preferred.
• Familiarity with CCTV systems and surveillance techniques is a plus.
• Strong observational skills with the ability to remain alert at all times.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  
• Must be physically fit and able to stand for long periods while performing patrol duties.

Other Requirements:

• Demonstrate knowledge and an understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials and equipment.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and noise levels in a manufacturing environment.
