Job summary

Paladin Security seeks a dedicated Security Guard for full-time work at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital in Ontario. The role involves patrolling the Emergency Department, responding to incidents, and documenting reports with a focus on patient and staff safety.

Ideal candidates will have English fluency, relevant security or criminology education, First Aid/CPR Level C, and valid certifications (UOF/MOAB). Training is provided for required certifications if needed.

Qualifications

• Proficient in English, both oral and written.
• Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services would be an asset.
• Proof of double Covid Vaccination and Immunization Records including MMR, Varicella and TB tests.
• Valid First Aid and CPR Level C Certification.
• Able to pass N95 mask fit test and provide UOF/MOAB certifications or complete Paladin training prior onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Work 12-hour shifts performing proactive and reactive security patrols and respond to incidents in the mental health ward.
• Write reports and investigate routine incidents.
• Respond to coded emergencies quickly and efficiently.
• Provide excellent customer service to staff, patients, and visitors under压力.
• Maintain physical fitness to stand and walk long periods.
• Collaborate with vulnerable populations and law enforcement when needed.
• Support security planning for high-risk patients and provide security presence in Emergency Department.

Security Guard - Full Time - Uxbridge Cottage Hospital(Paladin)

Site Description: Uxbridge Cottage hospital provides diagnostic and emergency services along with clinical programs in acute medicine and surgery, addictions, mental health and childbirth/children’s services.

Position: Security Guard

Averaging Agreement: Overtime is AA after 88 hours

Payrate: $19.38/hr. - $21.80/hr. "based on levelling system"

Key Responsibilities

• Working on assigned shifts, you will work 12-hour shifts providing proactive and reactive security patrols and responses to incidents in the mental health ward
• You will be required to write reports and investigate routine incidents
• Respond to coded emergencies in a quick and efficient manner
• Display excellent customer service skills and be able to work with people who are under stress or in need of medical assistance
• This role required you to be physically fit and able to stand and walk for long periods
• Work closely with vulnerable populations
• Monitor for and elevate security concerns within the Emergency Department
• Assist in developing security plans for high-risk patients
• Provide security presence and support throughout the Emergency Department
• Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts
• Oversee and support patient watch guards within the Emergency Department
• Work closely with local Law Enforcement and Emergency Services
• Ensure the safety of staff, patients, and visitors within the Emergency Department

Qualifications:

• Proficient in English (both oral and written)
• Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services would be an asset
• Proof of double Covid Vaccination
• Immunization Record (measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and TB skin tests 1 and 2)
• Valid First Aid and CPR Level C Certification
• Able to provide a clean shaven face in order to pass a N95 mask fit test
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Legally authorized to work in Canada

Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
