Qualifications

Overview

Position: Full-Time Security Guard

Site: UHN West Park

Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Hours: Continental Rotation (0800-2000/2000-0800)

Payrate: $19.19/hour

Posting Date: December 8, 2025

Internal Closing Date: December 12, 2025

External Closing Date: December 23, 2025

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
  • Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
  • Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
  • Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
  • Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
  • De‑escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
  • Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
  • Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
  • Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards.
Prerequisites
  • Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB‑approved vendor)
  • COVID Vaccine – two doses
  • Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two‑step TB skin test
  • N95 Mask Fit Requirement
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB certification program prior to their onboarding to ensure they meet the requirements of the position.
  • Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre‑requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6‑month commitment to the position/availability.
