Position Details:

• Title: Full-Time Security Guard
• Site: Ontario Shores
• Agreement: Overtime is under Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours
• Hours: Continental Rotation - 0700-1900/1900-0700
• Payrate: $20.09 - $21.95/hour
• Posting Date: April 30th, 2025
• Internal Closing Date: May 6th, 2025

Site Description:

Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences is a public hospital providing assessment and treatment for serious mental illnesses, emphasizing compassionate, evidence-based care and a recovery-oriented environment.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds to ensure safety.
2. Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate cameras and alarms, report suspicious activity.
3. Access Control: Manage entry points, restrict access to authorized personnel.
4. Respond to Emergencies: Act swiftly during crises, assist staff, and support evacuations.
5. Customer Service: Greet visitors, provide directions, uphold policies.
6. Conflict Resolution: De-escalate situations professionally.
7. Report Writing: Document incidents accurately.
8. Collaboration: Work with hospital staff and law enforcement.
9. Enforce Policies: Ensure adherence to hospital protocols.

Prerequisites:

• Valid Security License for Ontario
• First Aid & CPR - Level C
• Covid-19 vaccination (two doses)
• Immunization records for MMR, Varicella, TB
• English fluency
• Experience in security or law enforcement preferred
• Certifications in Use of Force and Managing Aggressive Behavior (or willingness to train)
• Legal right to work in Canada
