Job summary

JBS Food Canada ULC in Brooks, AB is seeking a SECURITY GUARD to join our main Brooks facility. You will protect personnel and property, monitor sites with CCTV and alarms, and conduct pack- age inspections while guiding visitors and contractors.

The role requires a valid Alberta Security Service Worker License, strong communication and investigative skills, and the ability to work under pressure. We offer competitive wages and on-site benefits at a leading beef processing operation.

Responsibilities

• Provide first line protection for personnel and property.
• Monitor sites using computer systems and trainings.
• Conduct inbound/outbound package inspections.
• Preserve evidence or scenes during incidents or investigations.
• Provide protection and security for life and property on site.
• Enforce regulations and by-laws for safe operation of the property.
• Maintain access control and monitor no smoking/no parking compliance.
• Operate CCTV and test alarms; assess events needing extra diligence.
• Liaise with staff, visitors, contractors and emergency services.
• Detect and report anomalies affecting safety or security.
• Meet visitors at Security Desk and issue access passes.
• Direct delivery, contractor and internal/external personnel as required.
• Prepare accurate, clear incident reports; follow SOPs and internal controls.
• Cross-train within the department to strengthen the team.

With approximately 3,300 employees, JBS Food Canada ULC (“JBS Canada”) is one of Canada's largest beef processors. Consisting of four locations—the main processing facility located in Brooks, Alberta, where approximately 4,300 head of cattle are harvested and processed daily; the Head Office and a case ready plant, both based in Calgary, Alberta; and JBS Ontario, a case ready plant located in Belleville, Ontario. The JBS Canada facility in Brooks has the capacity to produce products ranging from boxed beef primal, ground beef, beef trimmings, beef by-products and hides which are shipped across Canada and worldwide. At the multi-protein Mountain Creek Farms case-ready facility in Calgary, JBS Canada produces value-added products including marinated, portion sized, multi-pack options, kebabs and much more. Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience;

• Knowledge of, and skills in, crowd control in emergency situations;
• Ability to use and inspect safety, fire and security systems on Company’s property;
• Tact and diplomacy skills.
• Attention to detail in all areas of work;
• Strong work ethic and high level of personal integrity; Confident, consistent, decisive and strong personality;
• Valid Alberta Security Service Worker License;
• Excellent investigative, interviewing skills;
• Intermediate computer skills with MS Office and Outlook;
• High School Diploma or GED required;

Responsibilities

• Responsible for first line protection of personnel at company’s property.
• Use of computer systems and software to monitor sites and complete basic trainings.
• Conducts inbound/outbound package inspections.
• Protects evidence or scene of incident in the event of accidents, emergencies, or security investigations.
• Provides protection and security for life and property on company’s premises by conducting physical checks.
• Enforces all regulations, policies and by-laws for safe, secure operation of the property by:
• Maintaining an effective key or access control system,
• Monitoring adherence to "no smoking" and "no parking" requirements,
• Operating closed circuit TV systems and testing alarms,
• Being aware of special events requiring extra diligence.
• Liaises with employees, customers, visitors, general public, contractors, police, fire and ambulance services to prevent or reduce hazards to property and personnel.
• Detects and reports anomalies to systems, policies, practices and procedures that could constitute threats or hazards to company’s property or the health and safety of personnel;
• While situated at Security Desk meet visitors and issue security access;
• Direct delivery, contractor, internal and external personnel as required;
• Writes accurate, clear and concise reports;
• Follow approved Standard Operating Procedures and ensure internal controls are strictly complied with;
• Solve problems independently through full analysis of situations and employing best practices;
• Cross-train on multiple functions within the department to increase individual and team strength.
