Job summary

RBC in Toronto is seeking a Data Engineer to join the Security Insights and AI group under Global Security. You’ll design and optimize data pipelines on Snowflake to support analytics and AI initiatives.

You’ll collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and governance teams to ensure secure, scalable data flows, robust data models, and reliable platform utilities. This role emphasizes performance, security, and end-to-end data delivery within a dynamic RBC environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Snowflake experience including stored procedures and data storage best practices.
• Proficiency in building, optimizing, and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines at scale.
• Strong Python scripting for automation and workflow orchestration with Airflow.
• Knowledge of metadata management, access controls, and compliance.
• Skills to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize database/query performance.

Responsibilities

• Build, optimize, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines from diverse sources.
• Develop reusable, secure data solutions aligned with business needs and governance.
• Guide Snowflake usage, standards for data consumption and storage.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for analytics, reporting, and ML.
• Strengthen data governance with metadata, access controls, and compliance.
• Monitor performance and optimize queries and processes for scalability.
• Automate workflows using Python and Airflow to reduce manual effort.
• Document architectures, data models, and processes for the team.
